3 ways making your personal needs and desires a priority will actually help you GROW your biz

A little while ago, I asked what business and personal things were always, always, always on your to-do list but never, ever, ever actually got done. #happens

The one thing I noticed that y’all mentioned over and over again as something you WANTED to do but never ACTUALLY did was… make time to take care of yo’self.

For some that meant making time to exercise. For others that meant making time to sit on the couch and read Harry Potter. For others that meant getting a massage or taking a vacation.

Either way, it became glaringly clear to me that many of us are putting two things before ourselves: (1) business and (2) family.

While these are both awesome values and priorities in your life, it’s a problem to not put YOU before the biz (and even the kids).

(P.S. I say this with a lotta love...as a six figure business owner and a momma myself!)

So, let me tell you why (& what the heck to do about it so you can make more money and have more fun ASAP!).

3 ways making your personal needs and desires a priority will actually help you GROW your biz

1. If you don’t put yourself first, you *will* burn out.

If you’re not making yourself a priority then you will burn out… and you flat out cannot grow a sustainable biz if you’re burning yourself out. You need mental margin to be creative and do your best work. Because besides wanting to do good work (obvi), you ALSO want to tap into the #1 best marketing strategy out there for VAs, OBMs and SMMs: referrals.

If the motivation to be a happier, healthier human isn’t enough motivation to help you put yourself first, then hear this: your business will not grow until you make YOU a priority. #realtalk #hatetobreakittoya

2. Doing things outside of your biz will help you sign more clients.

When you make yourself a priority, then you start to do things for yourself *outside of* your biz. Things like hobbies, vacations, passions, and activities that aren’t directly related to your work.

And psssst... this is a really, really good thing, y’all!

Cause the more you make time for the YOU outside your biz, the more connections you’ll end up making with people *in* your biz. Meaning, your potential clients don’t want to talk about business all day long. They want to hear about you as a human being, too!

You see, having a life outside your biz can literally set you apart from your competition. It’s what makes you interesting and relatable and what connects you more deeply and intimately to your people.

If I could give you one tip to help you sign more clients in your biz today, I would say this: lean into your needs and desires and then tell people about them. Because your future clients will hire you, not because you work 24/7 but because they love Harry Potter, too. Or because they also love dungeon and dragons or scuba diving with seals or whatever else.

(P.S. Think about it. Would you even want a client who only hired you because you worked 24/7? Probably not... since they would then expect you to work 24/7!)

3. Like attracts like and you want to attract dream clients!

If you believe in manifestation and law of attraction, then this is gonna be SO up your ally. (Though if you don’t, then still read this cause this shiz is true.)

The law of attraction tells us that like attracts like. Meaning, when you don’t make yourself a priority and you do always show up in burnout and overwhelm because of it, then you’re gonna end up attracting a lot of clients in similar boats. #ouch

Basically, if you’re in overwhelm… if you’re burnt out… if you’re always burning the candle at both ends… then you’re going to attract clients who are doing the same.

On the other hand, when you start to put your foot down for yourself and when you make your personal needs a priority, then you attract clients who do THAT same. (Hint: These are those dream clients everyone keeps talking about!)

When you set up your business to be in support of *your* life, you attract clients who set up their business to be in support of *their* life. You get the best clients ever. You get to fall totally in love with your work after feeling overwhelmed for far too long.

If you take away one thing from this post, let it be this. When you put yourself higher up on your priority list, you attract dream clients who value the work you do, sing your praises to anyone who will listen, honor your boundaries and pay you on time. (I mean, can I get an AMEN?!)

That alone should get you booking a massage faster than I can snap my fingers but if it doesn’t motivate you to get your butt outta your biz and into your life, then I’ll leave you with this #truthbomb. It’s hard AF to ask your clients to honor and respect your needs and boundaries when you aren’t doing it for yourself first.
